Happy Birthday to Me

My Birthday. Big Whoop. I spent it by saying good-bye to Malaika and the family, and then started driving to Illinois…
I figured I could do it in either three or four days: Total trip: 2,165 miles — about 31 hours, (4 days)*(8 hours/day)=32 hours… I ended up doing three days, with actual time probably about 13-14 hours per day.
Re Billings: That would have been impressive, though — from Seattle to ALMOST the other side of Montana (by I90 anyway) in one day!

Tonight, I got to Bozeman. Missoula was too close / too short / too little — definitely a four day trip if I had gone that way. Bozeman is on schedule for a three day trip (3*700 ~ 2000). I debated if I should keep driving to Billings, but figured two hours nighttime driving (even if it IS trafficless!) is really the same as two hours in the daytime.
So around “6ish,” I had a complete timewarp. My dashboard Radio Shack thermometer/clock (which is always either right or wrong — “Hey, is that time right? Did we fix it for daylight savings, or not??” — was reading something like 6:20. The XM car satellite radio was reading 7:20. And my cell phone was reading 8:20. I was in Missoula, and had figured I would be there around 7ish. I had no clue what time it really was! I totally didn’t trust the XM radio: being a dumb radio, even if it is satellite, it’s only one way — and I remember never trusting THAT clock, either!. And I didn’t really believe my cell phone.
So anyway, I pull into a Marriott here at 1:30ish. The clock on the wall inside was …. 12:30 :-). I gained an hour back, and manually set my Cell to “set time manually, set time zone to MST, set DST = On.”
Fun.
